Hello! My name is Sandy and I am a Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA). I am a graduate of McMaster University’s Physician Assistant Education Program, Class of 2016. Sandy the PA is a blog I created, inspired by Anne Dang of Canadian PA, to document my experience as a PA student.
Prior to starting the PA proram, I graduated from the University of Waterloo, Class of 2014, holding a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Biology minor. I have completed an undergraduate honours thesis on base-rate neglect. I was employed as a first year chemistry lab teaching assistant and a research assistant in the Psychology Department. During my final year of undergrad, I had the opportunity to be actively involved with UW Science Society as President (2013-2014). [More on LinkedIn]
My goals for this blog
I started this blog shortly after being getting accepted into the PA program at McMaster in 2014. My goals for this blog stays the same:
- To promote the PA profession in Canada by documenting my PA education and experience
- To provide resources and advice to students in university and who are interested in the Physician Assistant profession
- Raise awareness of Ontario health initiatives
- I am a firm believer that health education is an important factor in reducing risky behaviour and increasing healthy decisions.
Disclaimer: My blog posts are all based on my views and opinions. My blog posts never assert anything beyond a reflection of my own personal experiences.
